Gangasagar Mela’s first patient airlifted to Kolkata for severe hypertensive nosebleed

The Gangasagar Mela witnessed its first airlifted patient this year as 64-year-old Santlal, a resident of Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh, was moved to Kolkata for specialized treatment. Santlal, son of Kishan, had developed hypertensive epistaxis, a severe nosebleed caused by high blood pressure, and was referred from the mela’s medical center to MR Bangur Hospital on Sunday, January 11.

On Monday, January 12, medical teams arranged an airlift to ensure prompt and better medical care. Doctors at MR Bangur Hospital are currently monitoring Santlal’s condition closely, providing treatment to stabilize his blood pressure and manage the nosebleed. Officials noted that timely referral and airlift facilities played a crucial role in addressing the emergency.
